		<description>Most of the files are not tagged, so the only info I could probably glean if I tried would be general file format info (codec, frame rate &amp; size, etc...)</description>

		<description>I think there is an XMP toolkit for AS3 you can use if the metadata tags had XMP.  Otherwise, you can read the file as a byteArray from disc and look for patterns using regex for ID3 tags.  Mike Chambers made one of these.  With bigger files it will be memory intensive.

I think the File API&#039;s are changing but have to check the team wiki.</description>
